Ski maintenance is important for the best possible skiing experience and to minimize the risk of damage or scratches to the skis' bases. Today's skis, especially carving/piste skis, are designed for carving turns, which means it's important to have sharp edges on this type of ski. Below, we list some points to keep in mind for taking care of your skis in the best possible way.
After each use:
After a few days/a week of skiing:
- Wax your skis.
- Check your edges. Sharpen dull edges.
After the end of the season:
- Thoroughly clean the top and bottom of the skis.
- Apply summer wax when the season ends and scrape it off when it's time to use the skis again to avoid dry bases.
- Clean bindings and lubricate the loose parts of the bindings, such as springs.
- Store the skis lying down, for example, in a protective bag.
- Make sure the skis are dry when stored.
Ski maintenance before the start of the season:
- Inspect your skis for scratches or similar damage.
- Check that the ski edges are sharp.
- Consider taking your skis for ski service to ensure they are in their best condition, so you can enjoy your skiing.
