History
Roupéz originated from Roupéz, which first started in Värnamo. Ingemar Andersson bought Roupéz from Nisse Roupéz; it was then a small shop on a back street in Värnamo, selling bicycles and various other sports equipment. At that time, the shop was called Roupé Sport.
When an advertisement was placed in Värnamo Nyheter, it mistakenly read Roupéz instead, which Ingemar thought sounded quite good. This is how the name Roupéz came to be.
However, the business outgrew its premises and then moved to a larger location in Värnamo. In 1977, Ingemar bought Skidshopen (the Ski Shop) at Isaberg from its then-owner, Ernie Åhsberg. It was then just a small rental operation in a basement.
Roupéz in Värnamo developed and expanded into more stores around Sweden, including in Jönköping and Helsingborg. The ski rental in Hestra also grew and expanded, and a retail section was added where skis and boots were sold.
During the 90s, all Roupéz stores were sold to Stadium, so many stores that were Roupéz are now Stadium. However, Roupéz Skidshop in Hestra remained under the same name. In 1989, Hans Eriksson bought half of Skidshopen from Ingemar, and they became partners. They also jointly started Roupéz Profil (a promotional products company), where Hans is still a co-owner today.
Over the years, Roupéz Skidshop has developed into southern Sweden's largest rental operation, as well as one of southern Sweden's most complete alpine shops. Over the years, the idea of an online shop also emerged, which started on a small scale in 2010.
For the 2010/2011 season, new premises were built, which now house a large rental operation and a significantly larger store than the old building could accommodate. This has allowed the store to grow further and become even more complete. Here, you'll find everything you need for alpine skiing: a full bootfitting workshop, a wide range of products, and always knowledgeable staff.
In 2017, three more co-owners bought into Roupéz Skidshop. These are Henrik Olsson, Albin Friberg, and Jennie Andersson. Jennie is Ingemar's daughter and practically grew up in Roupéz. Albin started as an intern and then began full-time in 2010. Henrik joined for the 2010 season and has a background in ski racing.
At Roupéz Skidshop, there is a genuine interest in skiing and a desire to help all customers find what they are looking for. This largely stems from Ingemar's way of thinking and working.
For the 2022/2023 season, an entirely new robot grinding machine has also been invested in, which will make the workshop even more complete. While there was a robot grinding machine before, it was quite old. The new one will also be able to grind both cross-country skis and snowboards, a real boost to becoming one of the best workshops in southern Sweden.
