At Roupéz Skidshop, we have extensive experience with ski boots and bootfitting. Regardless of what type of skier you are, we will help you find the right ski boots for your feet. It can be difficult to find the perfect ski boot, but it is one of the most important aspects for you to have a great experience on the slopes. You want to find the perfect balance between performance and comfort, have excellent heel grip, and avoid sore bumps and frozen toes. We are here to help you.

We have over 200 ski boot models in our store, ranging from touring boots to race boots! We adapt and modify ski boots for all types of skiers. It's rare to find the perfect ski boot off the shelf; usually, a bootfitter will help you optimize the boot to take your skiing to the next level. Regardless of your skill level, adapting your ski boots will positively impact your skiing.

You can bootfit a ski boot in many different ways; for example, we can widen the boot in places where it pinches. We also make custom-molded insoles and correct angles.

We offer free bootfitting for 1 year from purchase, which means we heat the liner, mill, and press without extra charges. If we need to add material/products, we only charge for that, but not for the labor.

Foot Analysis

We always start by performing a foot analysis, which involves measuring your foot, checking for any bunions, and examining your arch, among other things. We also ask many questions to gather as much information as possible to select the right ski boot for you.

The next step is to start trying on various ski boots to find one that fits your foot well and is tailored to your needs.

Custom-molded Footbed

Depending on your preferences and foot shape, we offer to create a custom-molded footbed, which is often a very good complement. Molding a footbed contributes to increased comfort and warmth by relieving pressure on the foot and improving circulation. You can visit us to have a custom-molded footbed made even if you already own ski boots.

Test and Check for Potential Pressure Points

Once we have found a ski boot that fits well and (potentially) custom-molded a footbed, we test the boots and check for any potential pressure points. If there are any issues, we correct them. We perform an analysis to see if it's sufficient to heat-mold the liner or if more extensive adjustments are required. This might involve milling the shell, punching the shell, or adapting the liner.

What is Milling?

Milling involves removing/grinding away material from the shell to create more space for the liner and the foot at the points where it is needed.

Punching/Denting the Boot Shell

Punching/denting the boot shell is done for the same reason as grinding. However, some areas are better for grinding, and some are better for punching. Sometimes, a bit of both is needed, in which case we grind first and then punch out the shell.

Canting

We use this method if a person is knock-kneed or bow-legged, as the goal is to stand as neutrally as possible in the boot. We use a laser to align and achieve the straightest possible lower leg, then we grind the underside of the boot at the required angle. We only perform canting on certain boot models.

The same result can be achieved with some other boot models by shimming, which involves placing shims between the boot and the heel lugs of the boot.

Cuff adjustment can be done on significantly more boot models; this involves angling the cuff (the upper part of the boot) to reduce pressure on the inside or outside of the leg.

Foam-Injected Liners

We offer foam-injected liners, which means a special liner is filled with foam that molds precisely to your feet. The reason for doing this is either to achieve the most precise fit possible, or because there's an issue with the foot that cannot be resolved with a standard liner.

A foam-injected liner can be used with almost all boot shells. A liner typically wears out faster than the shell, so it's often possible to get a foam-injected liner for your old shell.
