Baselayer

Baselayer

Here you'll find warm, functional, and stylish base layers for women, men, and children. We offer models from well-known brands such as Kari Traa, Peak Performance, and Mons Royale. Whether you prefer wool or synthetic, you'll find it here.

The layering principle is always preferable. A good base layer is the first layer to focus on. If you haven't dressed correctly closest to your body, what you put on afterward won't help as much.

Among other things, we have wool base layers for cold days, but also polyester for slightly milder days. Or depending on what you prefer, of course.

There are slightly different advantages to one or the other, depending on when you plan to use your base layer. At the same time, it's very individual what one personally likes. Some prefer wool every day, while others prefer synthetic. The choice is entirely yours.

Base layers in different materials

So, do you want a base layer in wool or synthetic? It's not always easy to choose. Even if wool base layers have become soft and comfortable today, some people still find them itchy. Some simply can't stand to have it next to their skin, which makes the choice easy – synthetic it is. But most people can wear both, in which case it's about finding what suits the activity best, as well as what you personally like.

Wool or wool blends are primarily intended for cold days, regardless of activity. Merino wool, a type of wool, can also be worn advantageously on warmer days. Merino wool keeps you warm on cold days, but also cool on warmer days. The material has good breathability, and moisture evaporates through the fabric.

In addition, merino wool is naturally antibacterial, and it can often be used for several days in a row without much odor. Wool also has an amazing ability to provide warmth even when damp. This means that even if you were initially warm and your base layer became damp, it still helps to keep you warm when, for example, you stand still and cool down. All of this combined makes a merino base layer very versatile. It costs a bit more, but it can truly be worth it.

Synthetic dries faster than other materials and is usually very durable. Something to keep in mind is that synthetic materials have a higher risk of starting to smell if used for several days in a row or for too many hours at a time. Synthetic is not naturally antibacterial, but it sometimes contains materials to inhibit bad odor. Synthetic does not have the same ability to provide warmth as wool when it gets damp. Something worth considering if you know you tend to get cold easily.
