They were early pioneers in both tourism and winter sports, organizing ski and bobsleigh competitions. Louis Dufour was even the first to use skis in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. In the 1930s, the family took the next step. Louis's son Éric developed rescue sleds and began producing anti-slip skins for mountain use. Soon, skins for ski touring became something entirely their own, and Pomoca took shape.
